Watermelon Onesie is a two-piece DIY band writing and recording from a sun-soaked spare room in Rarotonga, the Cook Islands.

The Kiwi duo Anj (Ready Sett, The Ramblings) and Lou (a classically trained musician), hail from Pōneke and first crossed paths when their partners landed jobs in the Cook Islands. One jam session led to another, and Watermelon Onesie was born – named after Anj’s son’s fruit-themed onesie.

Blending lyrical sass with island-honed heart, they channel the messiness of relationships, the quirks of island life, and the battle to dry laundry in tropical weather into low-fi, high-charm indie tunes. Their three tracks – Tonic & Gin, Driving Around, and Ships in the Night – are all self-written, self-recorded, and available now on major streaming platforms. Their fourth single, Not My Kind, will be released in May 2025.
