Delivering big drum fills and whip-smart lyrics, Ōtautahi hyper-localists Goodbye Starlet are about to embark on a triple date tour of Te Waipounamu. With stops in Ōtepoti and Te Tihi-o-Maru, plus a hometown release party in Ōtautahi, the band aim to make an impact in the south with their goofy, thoughtful lyrics and enticing rhythms. The four-piece pop-punk supergroup of Ben Sinclair (Megahowler, Local Idiot, Matt Slaughter Band), poet Claudia Jardine (solo project), Hayden Slaughter (The Mulls, Matt Slaughter Band) and Phil Jones (Bat Face Girl, Love you to, Puzzlefoot) will play sets inspired by lost Christchurch landmarks and planetary bodies making passionate love.

This weekend Goodbye Starlet co-headline Inch Bar (DUD) and Hector Black’s (TIU) with sister band Swipers, plus debutante art noise act soft boi noise for the Dunedin show only. Swipers (Seemingly Well-Intentioned Patrons Engaging in Routine Shoplifting) are all law-abiding citizens committed to the corporate capitalist consumer commute. Featuring half of Hoihoi and recently eating Retail Therapy Aotearoa in a corporate merger, Swipers suburban-folk-punk-rock will have audiences begging for a bigger deal and eating their receipts.

On October 3rd at Space Academy, Goodbye Starlet are supported by fresh five-piece indie rock band Big John’s House and new act, queer whimsical indie pop charmers Secret Admirer. To sweeten the deal, all tickets purchased through the UTR presales go in the draw to win a $100 voucher for 3 Keys Tattoos. Environmentally-friendly, one-of-a-kind band merchandise will be for sale on the night.

With one single, King of Ōpāwa (Come Back to the Party), under their belt and two new tracks Wonder of Science and Lily in the Afternoon about to hit airways, catch Goodbye Starlet in an intimate venue while you can.
