Ōtautahi-based singer-songwriter Amber Carly Williams returns with her deeply personal new single, To Be Like You – a raw, guitar-driven reflection written in the wake of her father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. First performed to a powerful audience response at her headline show at Auckland’s Big Fan, the track marks a new chapter in Amber’s sonic journey: stripped-back, emotionally charged, and unmistakably authentic.
Recorded over four days in Melbourne with producer Terence O’Connor (TEEKS, Julius Black), To Be Like You captures the vulnerability and strength that define Amber’s artistry. The song continues to evolve in meaning for her, resonating like a message to her future self.
Amber has quickly become a standout voice in Aotearoa’s Alternative/Indie-Pop scene, known for her soulful grit, evocative songwriting, and magnetic live performances. Following the success of her debut EP 21 Roses and appearances at major festivals including Bay Dreams and Nostalgia, Amber is set to release more music this summer, with collaborations alongside Terence O’Connor and Will McGillivray (Goodwill, There’s A Tuesday).
