By day, she is a junior doctor navigating hospital corridors and clinical decisions. By night, she is an emerging neo-soul, R&B and indie-pop artist crafting moody synthscapes and emotionally raw confessionals. On 14 February 2026, Beckett bridges these two worlds with the release of her debut EP, Let Go – a seven-track project exploring identity, growth and the process of finding her footing.

Drawing inspiration from Olivia Dean, Billie Eilish, RAYE and Kimbra, Beckett’s sound fuses ethereal melodies, textured harmonies and indie edge with unflinching vulnerability. Her music explores the tension between professionalism and personhood – what it means to care for others while still figuring yourself out.

From Auckland, New Zealand, Beckett began writing songs at just five years old in her childhood bedroom – the same room where Let Go was later recorded. Classically trained, she completed her Advanced Singing Certificate with Distinction and was a member of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Choir. In 2017, she was awarded Best Vocalist and the People’s Choice Award for Tāmaki Makaurau with her band Ivy at RockQuest.

Her musical path was temporarily sidelined while completing her medical degree, but creativity never left. What began as a private outlet during the intensity of medical training evolved into a fully realised sonic identity – one that honours both softness and strength.

Produced by Baz Suamili, Let Go reflects on themes of identity, growth and emotional transition. The seven-track EP introduces Liv Beckett as a thoughtful new voice in Aotearoa’s alternative R&B and pop space.
