Big Fan, the not-for-profit music hub founded by Joel and Gemma Little, is turning three and marking the milestone with a fundraiser to provide more free programmes for 2026.

Since opening its doors in 2022, Big Fan has quickly become one of Aotearoa’s most accessible creative spaces for live music, recording, and career development.

Big Fan has welcomed over 3,000 Kiwis into its studios and hosted 487 events with over 4,400 performers bringing over 32,000 fans through the doors. Alongside this, Big Fan has provided 35 free programmes to 224 core participants, with a further 425 people taking part.

To celebrate everything Big Fan has achieved in its first three years – and to provide even more free programmes in 2026 – the charity is launching a fundraising campaign aiming to raise $50,000, with every donation matched dollar-for-dollar by founders Joel and Gemma Little, doubling the potential total to $100,000.

Why Support Big Fan?
Big Fan’s initiatives – such as Ignite, Fan Camp, Residencies, and Green Room – are designed to break down barriers for people to explore their passion for music. These programmes offer practical experience, professional mentorship, and real community connection for people at all stages of their music journey.

“We started Big Fan because we wanted to help as many people as possible chase their musical dreams, without any barriers. Three years on, it’s been incredible to see the impact Big Fan has made—and we’re just getting started.”
Joel Little, Founder & Chairperson

“Being in an inspiring and encouraging environment, surrounded by people who are passionate about supporting artists really boosted our confidence! We trusted ourselves more in the studio and just went all in. We honestly didn’t want to leave. We felt loved, seen and supported 100%.”
Brooke & Starce Oneill – Residencies

“This experience has shaped my music journey tremendously and given me the confidence to step into this next chapter of my career.”
